Coaching Team

Our Coaching Team

We have 5 professional club coaches who provide skating lessons and coach figure skating.

Each of our coaches are specially trained and qualified to coach CanSkate, the premiere Skate Canada learn to skate program.  In CanSkate the maximum skater to coach ratio is 10:1.  Our coaches are helped by experienced figure skaters who cheer and give each student more support.

Our coaches are also trained and certified Skate Canada NCCP figure skating coaches. They offer figure skating lessons in group and private sessions.  Their goal is to coach each figure skater as they explore their limits on the ice.

Say hello to:  Elizabeth, Tannis, Evan, Janet and Rowena as they glide between skaters spinning, jumping, and dancing across the ice.

About Us

About the Club

North Surrey Skating Club is a not-for-profit organization run by volunteers.  We have been in the community for 50 years.
We have approximately 200 members ranging in experience from Canskate (Learn to Skate) to figure skaters  (including Special Olympics athletes) who compete in local and provincial competitions starting in the STARSkate program.  We are also the home club for provincial, national and world champion Special Olympics skaters.

Our club runs programs out of the 2 arenas:  1) North Surrey Recreation Center and 2) Surrey Sports & Leisure Complex (Fleetwood) arenas.
Every two years we host an ice show (carnival) to showcase our home grown talent.  We look forward to our 50th Anniversary show on March 4, 2017.
